Passengers on a flight from New York to Manchester Airport travelled over 1,400 miles before a technical fault sent them back to the Big Apple - with a total delay of 25 hours. Travellers on board the Virgin Atlantic 747-400 made it close to Gander in northeast Canada - around two hours into the journey - before a 'cargo fire alert' prompted the pilot to return to New York.
