Fly Dubai Boeing 737-800 Crashes in Russia
A Boeing 738 passenger jet crashed as it was landing at the Rostov-on-Don airport in southern Russia, the country's Southern Regional Emergency Center said Saturday. The plane, which had traveled from Dubai, had 55 people aboard, the Emergency Center said. It wasn't immediately clear if there were any survivors. Circled for 2 hours, then tried to land. Maybe low on fuel and forced to take a stab at it?
Odd. Reports say other inbound aircraft elected to divert to other airports
You have to wonder why they did not move on to another airport after an hour of circling.
Aborted first landing, went into circle pattern for an hour, before attempting second approach. My guess - ran out of time/fuel.
See my above post they had two hours of fuel when they departed the hold for their last attempt to land. Also they had called a missed approach and climb to 8000'. One can see the steep descent into the ground.
As further evidence the impact created a large explosion. From. That's right jet fuel
Still had 2 hours fuel
