At least 35 injured from turbulence on Air Canada flight
An Air Canada flight travelling from Toronto to Sydney, Australia, with a scheduled stop in Vancouver, encountered sudden and severe turbulence Thursday, leaving at least 35 passengers with minor injuries, the airline said. Flight AC33 was diverted to Honolulu's Daniel K. Inouye International Airport around 6:46 a.m. local time, where medical staff were on standby to examine the injured. Shows once more why you should buckle up when seated. Some people just don’t get it.
Folks, there is a reason most of the guys like me directly behind the forward wind screen might loosen, but don't take off the five point harness. If we can't see it comin, how could you! buckle up.
There is a good reason not to remove the 5 point harness. Remember British Airways 5390. Glad that everyone on board was safe and sound after landing. Yes the captain sustained injuries but he as well as the co pilot did what most of use would never survive. Buckle that seat belt and keep it buckled from gate to gate unless your using the washroom.
AIR CANADA as part of the pre-departure advise the passengers to keep their seat belts fastened at all times. Unfortunately some souls don't need this warning and are severely injured. Thank goodness Hawaii is for the trans Australia flights. Special thanks for their emergency services.
Then they should have the “seat belt sign” on AT ALL TIMES !!!
The problem with the seat belt sign on is that you are not supposed to use the washrooms during that time. So it’s not realistic to leave it on at all times, and that’s why you get the verbal recommendation to use them while in your seat.
Thanks, Wolfgang. That makes sense ðð¼
Passengers don't wear 5 point safety harness. This was AIR CANADA that got slammed not BA 5390 that no one I am sure in this hemisphere don't know of it. Keep it relevant Mr. Baker practice what you preach. I said the same thing being an argumentative person you slammed me for saying the same thing about AC33.Use the washroom before you board makes sense if you can squeeze a nervous toilet run before flight.
