Video: Air New Zealand's latest wacky safety video stars Betty White
Bear Grylls has got nothing on TV's Golden Girl Betty White and her friends at the 'Second Wind Retirement Home' when it comes to Air NZ's latest in-flight safety video! (www.ausbt.com.au) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
That is one of the best... Anytime Betty White is around, Humor is good.. Watch the video and enjoy.
Back in the last century, our family flew on a Braniff 727 on Christmas Day. The safety briefing, read over the PA (no videos then) was a poem based on "Twas the Night Before Christmas." It covered everything required and every passenger listened to it instead doing something else. Applause followed.
Brilliant!!!
This is a great idea for getting people to pay attention to these safety briefings if for no other reason than their entertainment value. Frequent travelers seldom listen up or pay any attention because they've heard the briefings so many times and think they know all they need to know. In actuality few know where their nearest exit is or how to operate it. Betty White is truly a golden girl.
Paul, you are so right. Not every aircraft is the same. Most people don't educate themseves as to a emergency evac. Maybe Betty White will make a difference! Asiana is one example. But the problem was that the Cabin Crew doesn't have the authority to iniciate an evacuation. Maybe. In their culture, it's a command from the the cockpit to evac. At UAL we had the authority to evac. 90 seconds were lost in the Asiana mishap...if they Cabin crew had the authority...many lives would have been saved. From the "Get Go" in training we were taught , the minute we got on the aircraft, that we were going to crash today. We would do our "Check List" and then we were more than ready to evac our passengers. The sad point is that most people are so complacent and they think it's not going to happen to them. Well... it happened to me and I went into my training mode. We evacuated on a DC-10...full boat and got those passengers out in less than 90 secs. I have a problem with SWA when they did a nose dive. The crew said...stay in your seats...we're not at the gate yet! Did they not know that they were in an emergency situation? Don't get it! United Training is probably the best in the world. And I am very proud to have served with the company for over 30 years!
LOL, Most people know it all already, If you don't believe me... Just ask them and most will tell you... This is great for those kind of people... because they will watch "I Love Lucy" and pay attention, but try to tell them something to help them straight out and they could care less.... Maybe some of these people will accidentally get the message.
Sparkie...exactly! It's most of the people who fly a lot and think they know everything! Well, they don't! And that is why this "Demo" is so informative. It may be humouous...which it is but do the pax take heed to it? I hope that they will get the message.
From your statement: "I hope that they will get the message." - There are some people who never will get the message!
I do like watching Betty White preform... She is one of the Old Time best...

You're right Sparkie...a lot of people won't get the importance of a safety demo. It really frustrates me because the people who don't educate themselves will make my odds of survival a hell of a lot less and they will impead the evacuation and might cause additional injuries or god forbid fatalities.
