ATC tape and radar of King Air with dead pilot and SEL pilot
This is a terrific tape of ATC bringing down a KingAir with an inexperienced single engine VFR pilot who had to fly a King Air after his pilot died. Long tape but what a terrific job done by all. This happened on April 15, 2009 in Florida, as many remember. (www.liveleak.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
I hope he got to log that time.
Interesting one Nugget. I mean if he wasn't PIC, who was?
Outstand! Well worth the listen.
I think all will agree that Doug White did a fantastic job and remained calm through out. What may not be known is that in addition to the deceased pilot and Doug, Dougs wife and two children were onboard. He was on a return flight home after attending his younger brothers funeral. Doug acknowledges that he also has a Co Pilot with him in the cockpit. I am proud to call Doug a friend.
Agreed, stayed wonderfully calm. And the King Air is hardly a good intro plane to flying an MEL. Kudos to Mr. White.
Outstanding job..! No, he can not log the time. He must be rated and in this case "typed", before logging time as PIC. However, he has more than proven that he would be a short time student. I only wish, I could claim him as one of my primary students.
As a closing thought, there is a lot to be said for good old fashion "stick flying". With all the electronic "Aids" we now have on board, the art of stick flying has almost become a forgotten talent. Especially in the larger aircrart.
