It could only happen out there ha ha ha ha.
I'm thinking it COULD have (and probably did) happen here in the USA, about fifty years ago, before pre-clearance, ACARS, etc...Pick up a flight plan from your 'live' Dispatcher in operations, be on your way to Missoula when your passengers were expecting to go to Billings.
I'm assuming that they ended up at what is one of Buddah's regular destinations.
