Woman arrested at AUS after refusing grope
Early Wednesday morning, a computer glitch shut down a security checkpoint for a couple of hours at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The line snaked out the door as many travelers waited for more than an hour and some missed their flights. One of the first people in line after that shutdown never made it through. She was arrested and banned from the airport. (www.kvue.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
So now you get arrested for refusing the enhanced pat-down? Or, are we getting the entire story here?
So the TSA contridicts itself, stating; "We treat the passengers with dignity" and then drags this lady across the floor .... in front of the other passengers ... How is that dinified ? TSA should equate to TERMINAL SCREWBALLS AGENCY
"The TSA says less than three percent of travelers get a pat-down. "
I call bullshit. ANYONE who refuses a back scatter automatically gets an enhanced pat down. Are they claiming that only 3% of the populace is refusing back scatter scans? Or are they saying only 3% of the traffic is actually subjected to the option to say no to irradiation?

Gwen Washington - "...but it is for our protection so I have no problems with it" -- perhaps we should submit to stripping in public to our underwear so that we get a show and she feels safer?
Emily Protine - "...it makes me feel a little safer" -- only a little?? I would think with our security system in place everyone should feel completely safe.
"TSA says less than three percent of travelers get a pat-down" -- And a single person less than that "less than three percent" is reason for a public show of authority?
Although I can't blame them... this lady obviously acted and looked the part of a terrorist willing to blow up a plane with a tube of toothpaste.
AMTRAK ALL THE WAY!

When I was leaving San Diego on the 11th of December, everyone got some sort of pat down while I was in line. They told me the scanner didn't get my upper body, so they just patted down my arms.
AMTRAK is next, unfortunately. And then highway checkpoints. What fun!
Something stinks about the way this is reported. It comes across like the lady did absolutely nothing wrong and got the beat down put on her. I'm willing to make a wager that she put up some high-holy screaming fit and got restrained like the out of control crazy she was.
All of this scanning stupidity can be stopped as soon as the TSA starts getting proactive with their screening rather than reactive to the most recently failed or successful attack. And I'm not talking about profiling. They are getting enough money these days to put some thought into what and who the security threats are likely to be.
Besides, between cell phones and airport body scanners, tumors are gonna be the "in" thing to have in 15 years! Think of how cool we're all gonna be!
