United Airlines Boeing 767 Damaged After Hard Houston Landing
The Boeing 767-300ER suffered substantial damage on arrival from Newark. (simpleflying.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Word on several pilot groups is that this was a first-time landing for new First Officer, who slammed down the nose gear, leading to structural deformation.
There's a link to an excellent discussion by 767 pilots on the way to land the type and how the nose wheel touchdown is critical in avoiding this kind of damage.

Saw a few photos elsewhere. What a mess.
Coffee with the Chief Pilot but no cookies. A landing that damages the fuselage is not easily explained.
As a former Houstonian and air traffic controller, *every* landing in Houston is hard... because then you're in Houston.
Similar damage has been done to numerous older 767-300ER's because of a well-known weakness in the fuselage structure in those early models. Later models were beefed up significantly during the build and to the best of my knowledge, none of them have sustained this kind of damage during landing.
