British Airways to launch a budget subsidiary to compete with Ryanair and easyJet
LONDON, UK — British Airways is planning to launch a new low-cost subsidiary that will operate short-haul flights at Gatwick Airport to compete with Ryanair, Wizzair, and EasyJet. It coincides with the ending of the government’s furlough scheme next month with new British Airways chief executive, Sean Doyle, hoping to cut costs to make the British flag carrier more competitive again. if you own and operate two airlines- one a budget subsidaiary, the other a full-service world service company, and other than price, how are we to tell the difference, given rock-bottom services inflight from the formerly full service company as oppposed to the budget outfit, starting out from no better than that level of the other company? Ah- perhaps seating density and the postures needed to comply with the dessicated seat construction, perhaps the quality of inflight service- or lack therof-? perhaps the laundry list of al-la-carte "service' charges? May i suggest a name? Royal Louis AIrlines, Loo for short.....
