FAA Restricts U.S. Airlines From Flying Over Afghanistan
U.S. airlines will have to get special permission to fly over Afghanistan because there are no longer air-traffic controllers overseeing the skies under the new Taliban leadership, aviation regulators said late Wednesday. The Federal Aviation Administration issued a legally binding notice to U.S.-licensed operators requiring that they notify the agency before flying over Afghan territory. Just slightly outside of the FAA's jurisdiction.
And they already issued a relayed NOTAM which doesn't even expire until the end of the month anyhow. The aviation regulatories in that region are taking care of the matter - and it is well outside the FAAs purview. Sorry. They need to leave it to the locals/regionals.

How exactly do you ppl think they are going to shoot commercial airlines down? They do not have anything that would do that. Y'all are tripping over seriously old weapons and gear they have. Biden by the way, did not do shit. Funny how everything crying wolf is forgetting that we have been giving our old weapons and gear to 3rd world countries for yrs. Also that once we do that it is no longer our responsibility to care for the stuff, i.e. not let it get into the hands of the bad guys. We did not allow that to happen.
