Air New Zealand have been flying them back too, there have been 2, sometimes 3 ANZ triple 7's landing at Vancouver (CYVR) to refuel for the past week going to and from Frankfurt, Aukland and Christchurch.
Glad to see the Germans didn't forget their citizens.
Do some research as to what has been done and what is required to make such flights. It takes more than just we will send an aircraft...... The Germans had only two Airports to uplift from.
They are flying 380s into NZAA - couple of days ago 2 at once, Also Swiss and Austrian first time visitors to NZ
Wonder if Lufthansa has ever flown to NZ. Might be the Kiwis' last chance to see a passenger 747 - if they get out of lockdown in time...
In another text I read that this was the first time Lufthansa flew to New Zealand.
First time Lufthansa had been here to NZ in 20 years. And, Mike, we're on target to be out of our lockdown in 2-3 weeks, a total of 4-5 weeks thanks to great leadership from the PM and Kiwi compliance (generally). Strange times so who knows how many more 747s we'll see :-)
