Several flights were delayed Friday when an extremely large flock of birds shut down the airport in Asheville, North Carolina, for several hours, officials said. (newyork.cbslocal.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
The fact is that animals displace and sometimes have caused other animals to go extinct many time in the past. It’s called survival of the fittest. The human animal is at the top of the food chain not because of the sharpest claws or the fasted speed , but because of the gift of our superior brains. Man is the only animal that has set aside space for other species and has attempted to rectify the mistakes of the past. We believe the animals are entitled to a place on the planet but they are not entitled to All of it just because they were here first.
Well said!
A few 12-ga blasts would have remedied the problem.
Interestingly, starlings are one of the few birds commonly found in the United States that are fair game anytime, anywhere. They are not covered by the Migratory Bird Act, as they are non-native.
There it is... because guns fix everything.
There it is ... knee-jerk anti-gun reaction. I live in Asheville and use AVL often enough, and don't want to contend with flocks of non-native birds. 12-ga to the rescue!
Not everything, but that's actually a valid use.
See we don't have that mind set in Australia...feeling the need to 'validate' guns.
You also don't have all the freedoms we have here in the USA.
We have more freedom here than in the USA. I've lived in 3 countries and the only country I didn't feel safe in was the USA... We have no fear of daily mass shootings here. You call that freedom in 'Murica? ððð
You seem to be drifting off topic. I will try to drift a bit farther. I have only lived in the USA and feel safe here. That said, there are places in the USA I will not go due to documented safety issues. Being safe is objective. Feeling safe is subjective. There are people who feel unsafe in California because of potential earthquakes. Others feel unsafe in tornado country during certain parts of the year.
Do you feel unsafe driving in Australia due to drunk drivers?

Note how she focused on mass shootings but ignores the daily killings in major cities that far outnumber mass shooting numbers many times over. Fun fact: gun violence in the US doesn't even break into the top 20 leading cause of deaths for US citizens (CDC stats). And when you take out suicides which account for over half of all deaths by firearm, not even in the top 50. Things like heart disease, cancer, accidents, and many other causes far exceed gun violence deaths. But that takes away from the media hysteria narrative. Nor does the media report daily gun violence stats like out of Chicago. So far in Chicago at the end of last Sunday, 404 had been shot and killed in 2019. Far more than all mass shootings combined nationwide over the past four years. Maybe she didn't feel safe because she lived in Chicago! Finally, the US ranks #20 globally in firearm deaths. My guess is she assumed we were #1 and has visited some of the other higher ranking nations in this list:
