Hong Kong's flag carrier Cathay Pacific suspended Dozens of cabin crew members after third Cathay flight found with empty oxygen tanks before take-off. (airlinerwatch.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Unfortunate for the suspended crew members if most of them were not guilty, which is likely the case. If it were sabotage, probably one or two persons did it.
The Quality/ Safety Department conduct an investigation re O2 tank maintenance. It is not just the crew responsibility, but the maintenance personnel who released the aircraft to service. I do not think this is sabotage, more like complacency on the inspection.
It is a terrorist act. If terrorist acts are now to be equated with civil protest then it is the end of the civilized society which made air travel a reality. What if they break the AED defibrillators and re-package them as new equipment? The cabin crew use these oxygen bottles to administer life saving care in the event of depressurization. There are about 50 such depressurization events annually among civilian and military aircraft. Hypoxia is horrible.
I'd figure it's the stewards with hangovers sucking up the O2 to get relief. It takes a long time to drain a bottle unless using a mask with a demand button on it to take full O2 shots to feel better.
Most likely!
that's ridiculous.. Wow crazy how people would think of doing such things.
I suspect that this is a way some employees are protesting Cathay Pacific's meek acquiescence to the demands of the Chinese government to (1) identify any Cathay Pacific employees who participate in or voice support for the highly embarrassing protests, and (2) remove these employees from active flight duty. In reality they could do far worse things than empty a few crew oxygen tanks.
True.. I read recently that in regards to being asked for the supporters list an exec - I believe ceo - wrote his name down, sent it in and resigned.. crazy situations
Almost sounds like something out of a fiction detective book. Wow.
