Holy Viz Batman
A Turkish Airlines aircraft skidded to safety Wednesday morning after low visibility forced the plane to circle Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport for nearly two hours before the Airbus A33 crash landed on a grassy field between the runway and taxiway. All 224 of the passengers aboard Flight TK-726 from Istanbul escaped the near-disaster unharmed even though the plane's front landing gear collapsed when the jetliner touched down at roughly 7:45 a.m., Nepalese news service E-Kantipur reported. Air traffic controllers blamed the accident on the foggy weather conditions that made the central runway difficult to see, the publication noted. The plane rotated at altitudes of 21,000 feet and lower above the mountainous terrain near the airport for an hour and 45 minutes before attempting to land, according to an illustration of the flight's history by flight-tracking database Flightradar24.
