Southwest Airlines gets ready for end of Wright amendment
One year from Sunday, the shackles come off Dallas Love Field, and Southwest Airlines Co. is already anticipating the moment. It is planning a full year of celebrations and promotions to lead up to Oct. 13, 2014, when the Wright amendment goes away and Southwest can fly nonstop anywhere it wants in the United States. Cool, I just put in my app and have not heard any interviewing yet..Interesting...
Herb Kelleher was a very smart man to say the least. I have enjoyed his airline for 35 (thirty-five) years. I really enjoyed it in the late '70's and early eighties with those girls uniforms. ( I was in my twenties then) The girls had great personalities too!
Herb had certain personality requirements for all of his employees I think. Anyway, the very best of luck to them for the future.

I had never heard of Jim Wright but just as soon as I read what the restrictions were it was easy to assume it was written by an anti-free market Democrat. And it was certainly passed by a Democrat-controlled Congress.
Bingo!
Attended college at SMU in early seventies.,Flew out of Love and in route over two, hours.,Never left Texas,,big place.
Thee Wright amendment is perhaps the most selfish, self serving anti consumer piece of crap ever to come out of DC...
