ATC tape and radar of King Air with dead pilot and SEL pilot
This is a terrific tape of ATC bringing down a KingAir with an inexperienced single engine VFR pilot who had to fly a King Air after his pilot died. Long tape but what a terrific job done by all. I ever take over in an emergency of some type not rated in I will ask "for the option" just to make em nervous. AND log it.
When I clicked on view comments, I should've known this would've turned into a debate about if he could log the time or not. Regardless, I would've logged it, and I guarantee nobody's would dispute it in this guy's logbook.
RIck, most go to training on the BE-200. But it is not a type as it is under 12,500 lbs. The 350 is over and requires type. Agreed, some awesome flying.
I have flown a lot of heavy iron and it took a lot of training to do it. I congratulate this SEL pilot who had no time in that aircraft and had to use all of his knowledge to safely get that 200 on the ground. Great job!

I don't think it was very smart to give him a frequency change... he had enough to worry about. They cleared the frequency anyway.

OH BOY the pilot died now I'm alone at the controls of a King Air! Gotta take full advantage of this and log this flight time!
While we are at it let's get in some stalls and steep turns. Then we can end the day with an instrument approach.
