LearJet Emergency Landing in Illinois

If FAUX news is reporting you just gotta know its totally tongue in cheek like all FAUX news reports are!
As I have been taught in the 35, 45, Kingair, Dash 8,and CRJ you never TURN off the runway with a gear unsafe light.
Not quite sure how I have made it through my not exactly short career, having never heard that little pearl, Eric, but it is a very sound policy. Know of an incident at ADS. in which a KA 200 landed with no L. main light. Taxied off the runway and parked the aircraft 90 degrees to a stiff and gusty N wind. The Maint. guys came out to put a collar on the actuator, without a jack under the L. wing, and the gear collapsed with the mechanic in the gear well. It killed an acquaintance of mine.
Fox News at work again.
A little late for this party, but my 2 cents worth. Clearly the strut is collapsed, thus no nose wheel centering on gear extension. This will allow the wheel to come out cocked to one side or the other. On a 20 0r 30 series Lear if the gear down locks are not all made, the landing lights will not work. I bet it applies to a 40, but not sure. So if an indication problem arises, turn on a landing light and watch the ammeter for current draw. If you get it, you got em. Can't straighten the nose wheel with steering as it does not work until main wheel spin up. The moral of the story, Know thy systems!
Correction, no nose wheel steering until squat switches are made.
