Confessions of a regional jet pilot
This story needs to be repeated. It needs to be told over and over and over again, until something is really done to fix it! The more people know about it, the better the chance that that will actually happen! The manipulation of the regs made this possible. The Airline business needs fixing. Politicians and Management needs to be ashamed! (www.foxnews.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Looks like it takes a lot to continue with this to earn points..But I did note the security question. And I say all go thru security the same! No favors. Just afew examples the FA taking the gun in bag, pilot did the same, and teh guy dressing as a pilot to do flights. Once you alter security for a few you loose it.
This doesn't surprise me at all, but it is a great article
Ticket prices? These young pilots are dedicated professionals and should be accorded the support they need to do their very best for the safety of the flying public!
Although the numbers can't be compared too closely, it's standard for new doctors to get paid relatively poorly and work long hours in their entry level positions as well. Young pilots similarly build up their experience in these lower pay positions before moving up to the coveted mainline spots. One might also argue that the low starting pay is intentionally done to help filter out people who are not truly dedicated to role.
However, when a doctor closes the door with his patient, he is only dealing with one life at a time. When the cockpit door gets closed, you are responsible for 50+ people at a time, 4 to 5 times a day.
exactly....and do believe that doctor has plenty of insurance in case something goes wrong
Yes, and it is the cost of that insurance that has made routine medical care so expensive. It has also driven dedicated doctors to rethink medical practice as a viable profession.
Still a good read.
