Larry, you make a valid point. The future will be interesting!lol
Tom Enders, the Airbus CEO, has publicly stated on more than one occasion that the 380 program will never turn a profit over its entire lifetime, not one thin euro, such was the investment, overruns, etc. Maybe Boeing's not so dumb eh? Like Concorde, the 380 was more an act of political will (and subsidy via public funds) than an economic undertaking. Plus, although know I am being a bit reactionary (and I'm old enough not to care), I just don't trust Airbus programmers or the assurances of its management after each weird event.
I agree it is nice to see, but I can't help thinking Boeing got the strategy wrong, the new plane they should have built instead of the 787 and 747 upgrade was a hub to hub double decker.
747 is still the queen of the skies. Iconic. Nice to see the -8 certified. Congrats Boeing.
Quote "A beautiful bird! With over 40 years of 747 experience under Boeing's belt, this plane is winner."
Therein lies it's problem, 40 years old and behind the times - I have flown A380 a few times now and what a great experience to the 747 ot 777.
The A380 ICE, quietness, comfort, room, air handling and just about all aspects have Boeing beaten. A true modern bird in my opinion.

i used to live one mile from an airport and the place was in the flight path to the runway if it wasn't for the jets i would not have been able to sleep so it was music 2 my ears
Well, it's like one of them old time famous guys said once, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and I guess the same goes for sound.
