747s and DC-10s fighting fires
I saw Tanker 910, a DC-10 outfitted to fight fires, on the news today. Doing a bit of googling, I found this article with a nice picture of a 747 outfitted to fight fires. I'd never heard of any jet plane used for firefighting before now. Any otheres? (www.gizmodo.com.au) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]

Maybe it was Tanker 911 rather than Tanker 910 that was on the news. I'm not sure I can tell them apart. Both are DC-10s from Victorville, I think.

was it red and white? the dc that is
I'm pretty sure it was orange and white. Both Tanker 910 and Tanker 911 are orange and white, I think.
What's been puzzling to me, I saw the reports and even some TV articles about the Evergreen 747 a couple of years ago, and it's development, yet every subsequent TV show, History channel or whatever, shows the DC10 and says nothing about the 747. This article says it's been in service a couple of years now and they are both based at Victorville. Are the History channel shows that dated or are they just doing a better PR job on the 10?
The wikipedia article has a lot of information and further links.
