Jeff Bezos to be on first Blue Origin space flight next month
Jeff Bezos said on Monday that he would be on board when his rocket company, Blue Origin, conducts its first human spaceflight next month. He said his brother Mark Bezos would join him on the flight. Blue Origin, the rocket company founded by Mr. Bezos in 2000, is also auctioning off a passenger seat on the New Shepard, a suborbital spacecraft that is set to take off on July 20. Bidding has reached almost $3 million with nearly 6,000 participants from 143 countries, the company said. (www.nytimes.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
I just don't get it, as a former shuttle engineer, why would anyone pay 3.2 million for 10 minutes? Its really not space..
I'm sure it's cheaper to ride a "vomit comet" :-)
This is just a sub-orbital hop. Really, why are Blue Origin so far behind SpaceX? They are now threatening the survival of SpaceX rival, ULA’, and the Vulcan rocket as Blue Origin can’t deliver engines.
Pitiful performance by Blue Origin.

mr bezos has the money to be onboard thIs flight..I wish him well, but i would be a bit fearful, considering the problems there have been ,other than with flights done by NASA..what is the plan for getting back to earth???
Maybe they'll release a stack of Amazon drones, on cables, to lower the capsule back to Earth?!
Hope he and his brother have updated their wills, put their assets in a trust, and have good management in place to run their companies. Wonder if he'll marry his girlfriend before this flight? I look at all the training real astronauts get, and this epitomizes the fact that money can override common sense.
