Just curious, how many runways could handle the landing? It needs the launch jet to move to a refueling airport?
It's not so much runway length - SS2 came to a stop about halfway down 12,500'-long runway 30 at Mojave - it's more about protected airspace, like they have in Mojave (next to Edwards AFB) and as they have for commercial ops at Spaceport America in New Mexico (next to White Sands Missile Range).
mr branson has invested in and been both successful and not in many "schemes",adventures and ideas..i wish him well in this one as he has been working on it and investing in it for a lot of years now..the cost of wanting to be a "passenger" when this idea is totally approved will be beyond the financial limits of almost everyone however..

Did pretty well with the facts there - though burn duration of the rocket was 60 seconds, and it wasn't Virgin "America"
