Delta CEO Defends Removing NRA Discount
Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian defended the Atlanta-based airline’s recent removal of a group discount for National Rifle Association (NRA) members, telling Delta employees in a March 2 memo “our decision was not made for economic gain and our values are not for sale.” (atwonline.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
delta airlines is a large corporation with shareholders and thousands of employees and hundreds of thousands of customers..many large companies give group discounts to persons who might belong to say, aarp,or the american auto association,or federal or state employees, and yes, even other airlines employees and members of private pilots associations..these discounts are called "corporate' discounts, and apply to special promotions, extra flight miles on the frequent flyer programs and the like..i am certain that members of the nra will still fly delta, not for some promotions offered, but because delta flies where the customer needs to go..for the tax breaks delta has as a large employer in atlanta and the state of georgia to be threatened for a corporate deision amounts to t at of georgias
So 13 of the many thousand Delta passengers have used the NRA alliance. Seems to me the administration of the alliance would be costing Delta more than any loyalty it might provide. I wonder if the State of Georgia would have taken the same action if Delta had ended the alliance for pure business reasons?
So why aren't their values "for sale" now? The CEO's statement indicates they were for sale prior to the Parkland shooting.
I think the point is we all have to keep this in limelight. Yes, years ago things were different, one breadwinner, one homemaker/sargent at arms handing out discipline. Or the perverbial “wait till your father gets home!” Both countries handled guns differently than today and there was far more respect for life and limb. Now it seems it’s a me, me, and more me spoiled, you owe me and what can you do for me society. Deltas’ stand may be unpopular but any individual that puts their gun ownership above the welfare of a child just dosen’t get it and never will.
don't care about Delta's stand... just thought it will be interesting to watch.. not a real gun guy but agree that something major has changed in our society and it's not good...
My thought has always been that the CEO of any publicly traded company that alienates half their customers by getting involved in a highly politically charged issue is doing their stockholders a disservice and therefore doing a lousy job. Delta is not going to change the second amendment or the supporters of it. Certainly not gonna hurt the NRA; only the stockholders and possibly Delta’s bottom line.
