Airport Workers on Strike throughout US
Thousands of airport workers in Chicago, Boston, New York City, Newark, Philadelphia, and Fort Lauderdale are expected to strike on Wednesday night and into Thursday. The workers, mostly cabin and airport cleaners, are subcontracted by outside companies to work with various airlines, including JetBlue (JBLU), Delta (DAL) and United (UAL). Well, if burger flippers with no experience can get it, why can't cleaners get it too? Heck why not everyone?
Lock um out and hire new! Plenty of people looking for work, even though the "official" Obama unemployment rate is ~5.5%.
Easy to make the U3 that a low number if you remove huge numbers from the denominator but the U6 remains around 14% accounting for those looking for work as you point out. Hopefully all these contracts contain a provision that they can be replaced for non-service allowing the companies to dissolve, to reform and rehire avoiding all the government agencies that are anti-business.
Love the headline again the submitter over states the strike as nothing other than eastern US is mentioned. Also after putting up with those service workers employed by the airport I don't even think they deserve the minimum wage. This was at SEATAC in Seattle. They treated people like they were the entitled ones by the way they acted towards passengers.
