Nasty Autopilot Secrets
As you probably know, every major airline and lots of the not so major ones capture flight data and use it as part of safety reporting programs — pilots refer to them as “snitch systems.” Any time there's a deviation of any kind, the system automatically reports it and, understandably, identifies the pilot behind the misdeed. Not every mistake or oversight is going to get you busted, but there are a lot of them that will. Some will get you fired. I hate when these magazines showcase their writers as someone of authority! This guy "in my opinion" is fairly negligent in the fact that he fails to mention the fact that you are required to use the autopilot while in RVSM airspace........Or maybe he doesn't know!!!!!!!
Light GA guys seldom make it to RVSM airspace. thats who he is pointing to in the article.
Mostly maybe, but he refers to turbine Jet aircraft......and I quote:
