TSA Wants Law Enforcement At Airport Security Checkpoints
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Transportation Security Administration is recommending that armed law enforcement be present at airport security checkpoints during peak hours after conducting a nationwide review in response to a shooting at Los Angeles International Airport last fall. Interesting (unless I missed it in here) that this story doesn't outline what was clear in a story I saw on another website that the union representing TSA officers wants an armed division of the TSA. I do not like that idea, and amazing the Head of the TSA John Pistole agrees with me. Don't get me wrong...I'm an advocate for firearm rights, but not in the hands of the TSA.
Law Enforcement Officers (LEO in the report) must meet certain minimum compliance under the Peace Officer Standards Training (POST) requirements. The report does not mention an internal enforcement arm of the TSA, but to have better coordination and response with LEO entities.
I think many current TSA employees would not pass the initial POST screenings.
I'd be very wary of any attempt to create TSA armed wing.

Correct.
TSA want's a lot of things... I think the biggest thing TSA does is to employ the underprivileged.
You are looking at this the wrong way. The TSA union is just trying to elevate the underprivileged to the privileged one dues-paying member at a time. 8-)
LOL, I stand corrected... even though it is no laughing matter.
