It was also known as the Widowmaker due in part to the CAF using it roles like low level attack for which it wasn't suited and its habit of pitching up.

A lot of fighters developed in the late 50s and early 60s resemble rockets that someone decided to attach wings to, almost as an afterthought. Extremely fast, but I wouldn't want to have to make any quick forced maneuvers.

I have watched the "STARFIGHTERS" team out of Florida at air shows. They are a cool bunch and the 104's are awesome.

There is no more distinct sound than a 104 turning downwind from the break. That engine was awesome.

I've seen the STARFIGHTERS at Oceana. If I'm not mistaken, any starfighter still flying today were built by Canadair. I belive that may be said for Sabres too.
