This is something that alot of people should be put through. It all begins with people not understanding something different, so they start to fear it. People are people, no matter where they come from or who they are or want to be. We have a long, long way to go in terms of learning about tolerance and respect for others who we may see as different.
Hey, this is 2011. The standard issued uniform for the job is what you get! All "public safety" employees wear PANTS!! How many police or fire people do you see that are wearing a dress? NONE! You need to conform to the dress code,or get a job where you can wear a dress. I have no problem with a transgender, but just follow the rules, and don't make us tax payers have to shell out MORE $$ just to satisfy the few. Using the mens restroom is another issue? Good luck.
Jim: There is no mention of the employee wanting to wear a dress/skirt. This is about the management at the airport not wanting to accept the employee as who they wanted to be, a female. Again, the employee had no issue in wearing PANTS!! Furthermore, in many parts of the world, women "public safety" officers DO wear skirts! Travel a bit, open your eyes.
Alistair, first of all, I've been in countries where women wear skirts/dresses,read between the lines! This is the USA. There is more to this story than we know, but it appears that its a money issue for her? Have a great day.
Jim, if you tried to insert subtle hints into your comment to point out what you really meant, they were really subtle and about as obvious as a black dot ont a black wall. Sorry, i just did not get what you were trying to say "between the lines". Just say what you mean and mean what you say. You have a great day as well sir!
Seems that he was talking about the USA as I read it. But think he is right about it being about dollars for the person more than anything. As far as which bathroom to use I would think it would be as how that person was equiped by present equipment not how they would like to be precieved.
The TSA really will hire anyone wont they?
