Biden-Harris Administration Announces $76 Million in Grants from Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to Modernize Airports, From Runway Improvements to Better Facilities

Enviado

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is awarding another $76.1 million from the previously allocated $9 billion, for 45 airport-related infrastructure projects in 22 states. The projects are funded under President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Airport Infrastructure Grants (AIG) program, part of the $25 billion total included in the law for airport improvements, including front-of-house projects such as terminal expansions and baggage… (www.faa.gov) Más...

All this political infighting is really sad to see. It's the same here in the UK and expanding throughout Europe as we're almost equally divided in our views. Meanwhile Russia and China and likely North Korea are sitting back, smiling at each other as we rip ourselves apart. How has it come to this....?

Crickets around here when the current administration accomplishes things. Funny how that happens. Where is Billy and the rest of the gang to let us know how bad things are?
BillOverdue
Bill Overdue -7
"accomplish things"? This paltry funding is an embarrassment by this Administration! If a person doesn't realize how bad things are, they're obviously part of the problem! Coming from an Administration that spends over $150,600,000, yes 150 BILLION A YEAR, on ILLEGAL ALIENS, 9 billion is hardly pocket change! So I'd say 3 billion in 3 years is a pathetic pittance for an aviation architecture that carries approx 853,000,000 passengers annually, while seemingly getting more dangerous every day. One needs to get the true perspective of "accomplished things" by this Administration.

Yes, and quite refreshed after a relaxing couple of weeks in an island I can't pronounce with a eather short runway for my plane. By the way, which part of my analysis isn't factual? I'll wait!
dkenna

Politics completely aside, you say “a short runway for my plane.” What type of plane do you have and what island?

I have some good memories flying my King Air into some remote areas on a 25’ wide runway in gusty crosswinds. Definitely keeps you on your game!

Glad you are refreshed and ready to get that misinformation back out there!

So, any factual info I give you, i’m guessing you would disregard as lies or whatever; so, i will use Robert Rectors info and numbers that he gave the Senate Committee on the Budget back in Sept last year.

“Highly Skilled immigrants (to include illegal) pay significantly more in taxes than they receive in benefits …” “they are offset by lower skilled/educated”. “Overall, immigration does not significantly contribute to fiscal solvency due to the offset and counter-balance”

He goes on to report the fiscal cost of illegal aliens is $84-94b. So, there goes your factual numbers. Are you still waiting? Ok, i’ll continue…

At the current trend of the Biden administration policies and inflow of immigrants, by 2028, the cost could be $127b. Still 4 years away and $13b below your numbers…

Okay, you’re turn!

Sure why not..

https://www.fairus.org/issue/publications-resources/fiscal-burden-illegal-immigration-united-states-taxpayers-2023

Key Highlights
* At the start of 2023, the net cost of illegal immigration for the United States – at the federal, state, and local levels – was at least $150.7 billion.

* FAIR arrived at this number by subtracting the tax revenue paid by illegal aliens – just under $32 billion – from the gross negative economic impact of illegal immigration, $182 billion.

* In 2017, the estimated net cost of illegal migration was approximately $116 billion. In just 5 years, the cost to Americans has increased by nearly $35 billion.

* Illegal immigration costs each American taxpayer $1,156 per year ($957 after factoring in taxes paid by illegal aliens).

* Each illegal alien or U.S.-born child of illegal aliens costs the U.S. $8,776 annually.

* Evidence shows that tax payments by illegal aliens cover only around a sixth of the costs they create at all levels in this country.

* A large percentage of illegal aliens who work in the underground economy frequently avoid paying any income tax at all.

* Many illegal aliens actually receive a net cash profit through refundable tax credit programs.

dkenna 6
The Federation for American Immigration Reform, from March of 2023, that has no sources for any of the data, with an extreme stance on immigration. I gave you a report to the Senate from the Heritage Foundation, and it doesn’t get much more twisted than that…

Sorry, still not buying those numbers.

dkenna 6
And just to point a little something else out…. I believe a certain alleged billionaire said he was smart by not paying taxes. But, should an immigrant looking for a better life, working their ass off, get any advantage, well oh my god! Our system is screwed, it is the end of society as we know it!!
BillOverdue
Bill Overdue -8
Regarding illegal aliens, how about "Line up and wait"? The Left is so nonchalant about illegals they overlook the details! Do you realize the number of illegal aliens, many of whom overpowered the border patrol to get into this country have created the population of "27 Wyoming's" or a little over 1 "Pennsylvania"? My question is .. how many illegals are enough, when does it end? Why do we need 15,000,000 MORE ILLEGALS in this country in 3 years? Are you suggesting ALL of them are working? You and I both know that's not true! You and I both know they're clogging the school systems, hospitals, city services, housing etc! You and I both know why they're allowed into this country! FUTURE VOTES! The Left is changing the demographics of this country so they can remain in power in perpetuity. They didn't ask anybody, the just do it. The defy the law, just as they defy The Supreme Court. We're accepting over 1,000,000 every year legally as it is! When is enough, enough?

Regarding The billionaire .. You could've also added what he said to completed his sentence after saying he was "smart about not paying taxes". I wonder why you overlooked it? He said, and I'm paraphrasing a bit here "then change the tax laws, because wealthy people can exploit every advantage of tax laws because they have the resources". Just like the other millionaire on the stage with him! I might also add, he doesnt have people killed like the other "tax cheat" on the stage with him!

You and I obviously have differing opinions about the law, common sense and practical economics, borders, etc .. the list is long! Clearly, you're ok with open borders and Id imagine a host of other events which aren't good for the average American taxpayer.
dkenna
dkenna 3
That is certainly a twisted view point. Have you ever looked at from a humanitarian point of view? America is one of the greatest places to live. Can you blame people for wanting to come here? As for enough is enough, No! It doesn’t work that way. Immigration is vital to our economy and closing boarders would be a disaster. Your logic that this is just going to generate votes for the left is ridiculous!! Maybe if Republicans would put together a decent platform and outline what they can do for the country instead of just….well, nothing, then maybe they would earn the votes of those same people! Crazy talk, i know.

Back to the pretend billionaire. The same guy who ensured the tax laws remained to benefit the super rich while shitting on the low and middle class. (I’m not sure what you mean by the other tax cheat who had people killed…. I missed that conspiracy theory)

To your last statement. No, i am not for open boarders. I believe we need immigration and have to fix the system to make the process better. When a bipartisan bill is shot down simply because it hurts a candidate, I say that is what is hurting this country. My question to you is how can you support Trump with the track record he has? What did he do for you (and the rest of this country) that was so great? His ONLY objective is to enrich himself no matter the cost.
BillOverdue
Bill Overdue -7
You guys absolutely crack me up! So dumb, the "bipartisan bill" you speak of would've allowed "5,000" illegals a day before anything happens. No quite a solution to prevent current or future illegals from coming in. Trump had remain in Mexico, it worked for Mexico and USA! Illegals for votes? Of course that's the goal. Biden continues to fly illegals directly into low DIMM precincts. When I say votes, sure Blue States are trying to enact laws for illegals to vote, but Im talking about "representation"! The same way Obama did with Rep Ilhan Omar. He brought in 85,000 illegals in 2016 into the 5th District of Minnesota, more people require representation! Surely you're not so naive to believe this just happened? You guys always talk about how bad Trump was/is .. wtf, has Biden done to make your life better? Name a few, one, anything .. Ill wait!

You're asinine comments about Trump is expected of course. Trump had 24 documents in a safe, in a locked room, in a house with 103 video cameras, protected by Secret Service at every entrance, and Biden had 14 pallets of documents in 5 locations, including his garage and an unlocked room in Penn State. He couldn't be impeached because he's too senile, but has his fingers on the nuclear codes? That's a new one on me. The Left has no bottom, no shame. They want power into perpetuity. By the way, Biden is the "Big Guy" who took millions from foreign countries to enrich himself and his family. What Biden and the Left is doing to Trump is like a banana republic, trying to take out the competition. FFS, even CNN had Trump up by 9 points. Its too big to rig in 2024! The only way Trump will not be President if is they "take him out", and that's probably not off the table!

If you're dumb enough to believe that Obama brought "illegal" Somalis into Minnesota, then there's no hope for you. Their entrance into Minnesota has been ongoing since the 90's, Billy Boy. And what you're REALLY going to dislike is that their immigration into the US was mostly supported by Christian organizations like Catholic Charities and Global Refuge. You ok? This must be uncomfortable for you.

How many gallons of the Kool-Aid did you drink Bill? How easily you’ve been conned. I know it is difficult to accept that you’ve been lied to and deceived, but it is okay…

Since you just use info from crackhead sources, i don’t trust your numbers. Biden took millions? Wasn’t it Jared who took millions from Saudi, Trump had his Chinese bank accounts, his love for Putin, hell; all dictators for that matter, his time with Epstein on his island, was responsible for Jan. 6th. That alone speaks more than enough for me to know he is the biggest POS parasite this country has ever seen.

Anyway, we are back to going in circles again, so for the sake of everyone else, shall we end this? You and I both know this one is going nowhere!

Ok you know what..enough of your unfounded conspiracy BS. " Trump had 24 documents in a safe, in a locked room, in a house with 103 video cameras, protected by Secret Service at every entrance" "Biden had 14 pallets of documents in 5 locations, including his garage and an unlocked room in Penn State."

You might want to reverse those 2 facts since the facts are, and this has been documented many times by many parties, that Biden was found to have 24 documents including those in a locked desk and office @ Penn State and trump had boxes and boxes, some found in an unlocked closet, @Mar-A-Lago.

Seeing as you just exposed your thinking here, on this, I wonder if anyone will even consider anything you state here anymore as credible.

Couple small facts about the bill. NO MORE CATCH/RELEASE. The first 5K get detained, screened and then booted out. Anything above that and it's an automatic detain and boot out. Better security and entrance detain barricades along the entire border along with increased patrols, increased water patrols and a wall built that won't fall over.

May I inquire? I only am able to communicate in the American version of modern English...plus some limited skill in the Russian and German languages. I find my limited communication ability has not limited, in most cases, my ability to understand what most of my fellow aviators are thinking. Generally speaking, i have found most of my fellow aviators communicate their thoughts well. As a side-note, most share my conservative views about our current administration.

That being said, I remain puzzled about what you are trying to tell us about aviation matters, and how they relate to the current Administration (about which I generally disapprove).

Can you help out your fellow aviators by explaining in more standard terminology how crickets (a insect we have around our airstrip (AZ 27) elates to your views on what the current Administration has done or not done for aviation?
dkenna

Thanks for the inquiry Peter. You see, the terminology “crickets around here” simply meaning no one was replying on the comments section. It was quiet so you only hear crickets chirping. There had been a squawk about this funding bill when it first was approved weeks ago which led to the initial exchange between a few people that, shall we shay, share a different view of things than i do. Usually their posts circle around the same nonsense, conspiracy theories, and how Drumf is the savior and Biden is the devil, blah blah blah. Stupidity basically. So; to sum it all up, I had a few drinks and called them out. Of course, no replies.

There's no debating a person who's OK with adding $1,000,000,000 a quarter to the $30,000,000,000,000 deficit, some of that included paying off student loans even though the Supreme Court said its illegal! Of a person thats OK with infanticide. Or a person OK with a President too senile to be impeached for harboring classified documents even though he wasn't President at the time, but still has nuclear codes in his pocket? Or a person whos OK with unlimited illegal aliens being brought into this country clogging schools to the point where our kids cant even go or when the schools are used to house illegals. Illegals overrunning hospitals, maxing out local city budgets .. the list is long, very long! But probably the most insane .. I cannot debate a person who's OK with continuing to support the Ukrainian slaughterhouse, by sending more money, so more men, women and children can die? Two generations of Ukrainian men are already dead, but that's mot enough for Democrats. Most of the 101st Airborne Division is in the Black Sea. Anyone who thinks Ukraine can win a war against a country that has 5,580 nuclear warheads, is brain dead! Biden "refused to negotiate with Putin" when he sent Boris Johnson to refuse to negotiate. Absolutely insane! You may say you don't agree with one of these points, doesn't matter, it's the other ones that make you an enabler of ALL OF THEM!
dkenna
dkenna 4
Look Vlad, the entirety of that diarrhea mouth crap you just let loose is just insane. First of all, you contradict yourself right off the bat BIGTIME! Research just a little bit on how much the drumf admin added to the deficit, but beyond that, All the things you say I’m “OK” with…

Forgiveness of student debt. Yes, i am ok with forgiveness of those being raped by the lenders. Basic predatory lending. The average amount isn’t all that much either. God forbid the government does things FOR the people. I know republicans are all about TAKING away rights, so when something is given, oh my god. It is soooo unfair! You keep bring up the classified docs. Biden cooperated with the FBI. If he pulled the same shit Trump did and refused to return them then guess what?! He’d been in the same boat as Donny dumbass. The illegal aliens taking over schools and hospitals. Really? Really?!!? Where’s this happening? In your town? Not in my town..or any other town i’ve lived in. I am willing to bet you haven’t had a single issue or been affected by an “illegal”. Typical fox news lie. The far right doesn’t support education and healthcare reform, but if they did, maybe we would have the capability to handle an influx of students and those needed medical care. Woah…crazy train coming thru…

And again with Ukraine….. my god. You obviously want Russia to take over. What world did you grow up in? I figure you to be at least 50 years old with your racist homophobic garbage, and that should be old enough to remember Russia=bad. You say you cannot debate with me, but holy fuck man….look at who and what you are supporting. By your logic, The good ole USA shouldn’t exist. How dare we fight against England….

Couldn't agree more on all of the above! I would hope that every sensible American mind would recognize that infrastructure in general is crumbling, and that politicians (left, right, center, or anywhere in between) has let us all down over decades. That said, this forum isn't exactly overflowing with sensible minds.

I will fully admit that while I studied airport management extensively in college, I work in a different area of aviation and my knowledge of funding methods has become rusty at best, but I'm certain there are plenty of folks out there who have never heard of AIG/AIP/or even an airport master plan. This area COULD be a great place to learn from each other on these sort of topics, but bickering is always the priority. Hell, at this point I'd even welcome debates about what airports made the best use of their mandated art funding (Detroit's light tunnel, O'Hares more outdated light tunnel, DEN's creepy horse and gargoyles, etc)
