Quantas flight declares mayday
Lands in single engine. News people made it sound worse than it was. 737s can fly on one. Interested in seeing what cause the loss of engine. (www.youtube.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Slow news day. Had to make some news somewhere.
They seem to have made a mountain out of a molehill with this report...
two engine in flight, passengers ok; one engine n flight, passengers 50% ok, no engine in flight, passengers 0% ok . . .
Yes, the news dud make a big deal out of what turned out to be a non-event, but those of you criticizing the flight crew were not there, in the Captains seat.
I am surprised that a Mayday was issued based on something that happens frequently throughout the world. Take a look at the website Aviation Herald and it seems almost every day somewhere in the world a twin engine airborne plane loses an engine. No big deal.
Until it loses a second one....
Yes and sometimes they indicate the pilot declared an emergency, and sometimes they don’t. The airport will treat thus as an Alert Two, so while it may not be the drama of a bad movie, it is still a non-normal event. More than once I’ve been on a flight when we had 1 engine out, with 7 still running and declared an emergency.
