Airbus to invest more than 1 billion dollars in its A220 program

For Airbus, this is turning out to be a bargain compared to the relative costs for design, development, testing etc for an aircraft that is fully ready to sell filling a market niche. Now they are just paying for increased production costs to meet demand.
Summer of 2017 , Boeing , Bombardier and the Canadian government were close to establishing a deal , which would have given major control of Bombardier Aerospace to Boeing .

Yep, instead of buying it they figured they could kill it. Shot themselves in the foot in hindsight.
