A F-35B Lightning II jet went down somewhere near Joint Base Charleston on Sunday afternoon, and the pilot ejected safely and was in stable condition, the base said. But the problem is that responders aren’t sure where the plane ended up. (www.washingtonpost.com) Más...

A news report states that a debris field of the crashed F-35 was located in Williamsburg county South Carolina. Approximately 75 miles north of Charleston SC.

It will be an interesting debrief of the pilot. Sorry Commander, but I somehow hit the ejection switch by mistake? Makes you wonder if the F16 can pull out of an afterburner dive with a G-loc’d pilot, level out and maintain 250 Kts, why couldn’t the Marine F-35, slow to a hover and land itself?

I read that the aircraft was in auto-pilot when he ejected should that not cancel on ejection?
