You have to appreciate the loyalty to the founders. I flew on the original jets with their livery. This is a nice gesture.
The traditional gold livery was before my time. My first Southwest flight was on a Canyon Blue jet. A sign that one chapter is coming to a close and a new one is starting.

I remember Herb Kelleher was almost as popular as Juan Tripp of Pan Am. I talked to people in the 70s who loved working for Southwest. With Southwest, you knew what to expect, and Southwest delivered exactly what they promised with no frills.
The old livery plus the flight attendants in hot pants were the golden years of flying.
I remember those days, and the days of the PSA grinning bird.
I love the gold livery. And seeing that nice 737-200 at the bottom of the article reminded me what a Frankenbeast the 737 has become!
