In a first, IndiGo & SpiceJet to wet-lease planes to launch long-haul overseas flights
As India resumes air travel with various nations, IndiGo and SpiceJet, in a first, are leasing long-haul planes on a wet lease to launch flights to the UK and Europe. While SpiceJet has already leased one Airbus 330 aircraft from Oman Air to launch flights to London from July 27, IndiGo is in discussions to lease three Airbus 330s for such flights. so, these airlines know how to find long haul passengers, they just don't know how to get them there.
These airlines have been successfully operating in the domestic sector along with a limited international coverage which they were managing using their vast fleet of narrow body aircrafts. Being operational on a low cost model, they are finally looking forward to the long haul options.
