Twitter fury after British Airways loses entire flights worth of luggage

We had the same problem flying from ATL to CPT on Delta. They switched aircraft to avoid delays as the scheduled 763 needed an extra hour to correct a problem and they had to meet the flight from New York to Dakar. When we arrived in Cape Town we discovered our luggage was touring Paris and we were scheduled to leave for Kenya in just over 48 hours riding the Blue Train. We basically purchased a new wardrobe and luggage for the rest of the trip. The Blue Train crew tracked down our luggage which met us in Pretoria. As it was over 48 hours American Express picked up the cost and on return Delta was happy to fly seven cases without charge or complaint.
Moral of the story...have 48 hours of clothes in a carry on and one week of medications etc.
