United Doubles Flights Between San Francisco And Hong Kong
United Airlines (UA) will add a second daily nonstop service between San Francisco (SFO) and Hong Kong (HKG) beginning on October 26, giving customers the choice of either midday or late-night departure on this long-haul route. With this expansion, the route will now be operated by two Boeing 777-200ER aircraft instead of its current single 777-300ER. (airwaysmag.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
It's great they are doubling up on these flights, but at same time it sux they are removing UA 154..was hoping to 1 day hop on The Island Hopper.
not exactly as it seems: doubling the flights, but less than double the seats.... Expect very high load factors eastbound.
It actually depends on which 777-300ER and which 777-200ER they ran/run. IE, if they run 777-200ER with either seat layout 3 or 4, and only ran layout 1 of the 777-300ER, they gain 14 seats.

What a headline! And then you read and see they are zooming all the way up to TWO fights, but read further, not doubling seats since the aircraft will be downsized! So much for the breathless headline! I can't help but wonder if San Francisco can really support all those flights to HKG between all carriers. Time will tell.
It's for the evacuation of HK
So by the looks of it, you'd rather send ONE high-density plane rather than two less dense planes on more convenient schedules? I'd very much rather have the choice of departure time.
