Air Canada leases two Airbus A330-200 from Qatar Airways to fill the capacity gap caused by its grounded Boeing 737 MAXs. Air Canada currently has 24 Boeing 737 MAX 8 in its fleet. Like all others around the world, they are grounded after two fatal crashes of the type in less than half a year. The arithmetic is difficult.
With the MAX 8s grounded AIR CANADA wisely anticipated an increase in the volume of customers who will be flying this summer. They added two 330s and six 320s to make sure they have passenger coverage while the MAX 8 mess is corrected and guaranteed 100% safe. They Don't want lines and lines of AC customers trying to get seats or tickets.
100% safe? I doubt that can be written into any contract language
Finally Boeing will pay the bill for all these replacements ,so size doesn't matters , and count in that all the compensation claim airliners over the world are preparing ,this can bring Boeing to the edge and beyond there financial ability .
On CNN last night it was said that Boeing has US$ 15 billion in hard cold cash to handle the forthcoming onslaught of lawshuits and the corresponding settlementes.
Boeing is too big to fail -an awfully important corporation for the US both in commercial aircraft terms as well as in military aircraft, missiles, etc. products.
