Lufthansa considers ordering Boeing 787 instead of more Airbus A350

A great coup if Boeing does get the contract.
Lufthansa has a penchant for having one or two too many aircraft-types on their fleet when they know that it is not a good economics policy; having said that American and Delta have bought 737s and 320 family jets at the same time as a way to forcé their hands at the bargaining table. The jury is still out. Changing subjects, LH's latest livery is as white, clean and unexciting as a hospital room.
both the 787 and a350 are moneymakers for their operators, but i do not understand why any carrier would operate both models, side by side , or not. Each aircraft family is adaptable within any operator's route network...
When are you guys going to understand that both aircraft are not direct competitors. It’s like comparing the B777 with the A330
They want to farm their own data about the aircraft.
Boeing says this, Airbus says that, let’s buy a few of each see which one is actually better for our business model. Then we’ll buy a lot of one of them.

Sounds like just another bargaining ploy to get unit prices down. It makes no other economic sense to operate two different types to do the same job.
