Why would they be terrified?? They were still on the ground for goodness sakes.

I hate modern Journalists with their panic sounding headlines. Is that what they teach in colleges of late? Are they afraid of their own shadow?

Eh ... you weren’t there. An engine on fire can easily turn into a massive blaze or explosion. Not completely sure but it kinda looks like it might have been a RTO.

I agree the media often over sensationalizes things but the important part is the crew all did an excellent job of handling the situation.

They did RTO due to an engine fire warning and asked for fire services. Tower did reply that they saw smoke from the engine.

Ever been in a fire ? On the ground or anywhere else... like the confined space of an aircraft cabin. Obviously not. Fires usually start with smoke. I agree with Spencer McLennan and not all you journalist bashers.

They have to get clicks and generate ad impressions...

They are afraid that if they don't overplay it their editor will cut it and they will be short a credit. Blame the lunacy of the 24/7 news cycle and AD clicks. And in my book, the completely self discredited media.

Agreed. A nothing story. It would have been better to headline, "sometimes things go wrong at the right time." The story doesn't say, but I assume all the terrified passengers were happy to jump on the next plane and complete their trips.

Thinking back to the blown GE90 on the BA2276 - the 777 at Las Vegas a few years back - the wind direction (blowing smoke towards the plane is clearly an obstacle to safe evacuation. But all credit to the aircrew and cabin crew, because the re-written headline could be "airliner fails on ground; everyone was evacuated successfully".
