Successful Fifth Space-Based ADS-B Launch Brings Flight Tracking System Closer to Full Deployment
When the Aireon payloads from the fifth launch come online, the system will have nearly global coverage with 15-minute or better update intervals. This signifies optimal timing for airlines to begin testing the capabilities of space-based ADS-B. This will assist airlines with meeting the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulations that require aircraft be equipped with an aircraft tracking system for those flights not tracked by air… (flightaware.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Congratulations! Huge props to Iridium, Aireon, SpaceX and FlightAware. Space-based ADS-B is a huge game-changer...
Will I see an aircraft with a GTX-327 and GDL 88 full flight now like it used to be or no? I'm not certain how all this stuff works yet. Thanks
Yes, you can track airplanes on FlightAware with 1090MHz out like the GDL 88 emits.
Any chance for general aviation? Would be great to see a Cessna traveling cross Atlantic.
Sure, it works fine on any GA airplane with a 1090MHz transponder, like the GDL 88.
Would this new ADS-B System be able to track Global Weather as well? This is needed.
