European Parliament votes to impose visa requirements on US citizens
The European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium, has urged the European Commission (EC)—the executive arm of the 28-nation European Union (EU)—to impose visa requirements on US citizens visiting the EU. (atwonline.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
A strong dollar and an increasing reputation of poor and disrespectful treatment of visitors by the US Border authorities will suppress European travelers and all will lose.
There are lots of reports of disrespectful treatment even to Canadians.
Disrespectful treatment to all. I am US citizen, known traveler program participant and I am sad to say that after traveling all over the world, including countries where "US Citizen" is a four letter word, I have received the worse treatment from my own country's Border officers.
US Border people are not there for our entertainment. They DO NOT have a sense of humor. They are not interested in small talk. They are there to do a job. They are NOT ambassadors. They are all business.
Wrong....they are an ambassador to the US as they are the front line of what visitors see..if they are a disrespectful bunch, that bodes poorly on the rest...doing a good job is 1 thing, but being a horse's ass, while doing it, is another.
Disagree. They are cops, the border is their beat, their job is to stop bad things (people, drugs, munitions, etc) from entering. Every passing body is a potential perp. (When your only tool is a hammer, everything tends to look like a nail). They should be expected to be courteous and professional. Facilitating your stay is not high on their priority list. Being a horse's ass is not professional.
Ok I will agree with you to a point joel, about their being enforcement officers...however they are also ambassadors to the US in a sense..think about it..if you have a visitor to your city and the cops are complete horse's butts to that visitor, that could send that visitor a message about the whole city as being impolite etc.
Ok..lets look at this from another angle. "define "horse's butts"....In the context to which you refer.
asses, disrespectful, thinking their #2 doesnt stink
That's a descriptor. I was looking for examples of the types of behavior which make you state this claim. "Rude" doesn't cut it.
No you were looking for my definition of horse's butts which is exactly what I gave you...and if you cant think of what someone acting that way towards someone else entails, oh well...and to that end, this is an aviation forum not a geopolitical henhouse...to which I shall apoligize to my fellow aviation enthusiasts for my prolonged escapades to try and prove a point!
