Russia's Su-27 Fleet Grounded Over Deadly Crash
Head of the Russian Air Force, Colonel-General Viktor Bondarev has ordered the grounding of the country’s entire Su-27 fleet, until the reasons behind the crash that led to a pilot’s death on Thursday are clear, the TASS news agency reported. The Defense Ministry confirmed that the jet crashed while returning to the airbase after a planned flight. Last week a Blue Angels F-18 crashed, killing the pilot. Same day a Thunderbird F-16 crashed, pilot ejected. Yesterday a Sukhoi-27 of the Russian Aerobatic Team Russian Knights crashed, killing the pilot. All teams have temporarily grounded their jets during investigations....
And yesterday a F-5 of the Swiss aerobatic team Patrouille Suisse crashed after two planes collided during practice for an airshow in Holland. The pilot of the first plane ejected and survived slightly injured, the other pilot managed to land his plane with a damaged horizontal stabilizer.
Terrible couple of weeks for all these demonstration teams.
So, it's not just 737's?
