I totally agree. It should have been turned into a museum for everyone to enjoy forever.
So many found memories of the TWA 'Flight Center.' I worked for TWA at Hgr 12 at JFK. I can't remember how many times I walked into the terminal but I can say that it never got old. Every time I walked in I felt that I was already in flight.
I fly out of and into the Detroit airport. It has been totally rebuilt since I moved to Detroit.
It looks like a warehouse with jetways.

What a wonderful peace of architecture !
I was in this terminal once as a kid, to see my sisters off to Spain and it made a lasting impression on me. Small by today's standards and passenger demand, I've long feared this terminal would go the way of the original AA terminal with it's long stained glass front (okay, that was probably the only redeeming feature) and the PanAm Terminal, recently demolished by Delta. As much as I'm glad JetBlue is eventually going to renovate it, I hope they maintain the open smooth flowing interior.
What a wonderful peace of architecture ! Lets hote it will be mostly preserved even trought the conversion into an hotel-boutique.
The Terminal is a pure Work of Art! And the photographs do it justice! Should be kept as a Museum! Unique!
