BREAKING: American Eagle to Lay Off 223 Pilots, Flight Attendants
The effects of American Airlines’ bankruptcy are starting to unfold… (airnation.net) Más...I really don't think anybody down there expected this, then, just in the last couple of days, the rumor mill started churning. Those that are left are along for the ride. High enough in seniority to stay, but too young to retire, which Lump Sum is gone and long term ain't gonna be near what they are looking at anyway. I did a turn to ATL the weekend before they announced. I was told yesterday that future fill in would be slim to none with what they were having to go through now.
Just got some more fodder out of the rumor mill at DFW; I hope it's wrong but the word is now that Eagle will be gutted and remain in name only, to be totally operated by a contract, probably Mesa. Any remaining Aircraft will be picked up by that carrier and needed emmployess will be from existing staff and dovetailed into seniority roster of contracting carrier, no longer being employees of AA and pension rights gone. I guess we'll see.
well the ATRs are gone. The EMBs will follow soon, that will really put a damper on AMR's employees.
I knew this day was coming.
AA might pull from the great state of Illinois
or Tax & Spend.
