The President repeatedly made damaging remarks aimed at corporate airplane owners and operators, and he urged Congress to eliminate or reduce tax depreciation schedules for general aviation airplanes, something he agreed to last year as part of the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization and Job Creation Act of 2010. Wesley, regardless of what the balance sheets of the "trust funds" say - THERE IS NO MONEY THERE!! All of the long term assets of the so-called trust funds are in govenment Treasury Bonds which have to someday, one day be paid back out of general revenue, adding trillions to the "on budget" deficits. We DO NOT and WILL NOT have the CASH to pay those obligations (unless we continue printing money leading to hyper-inflation). So don't lecture me about the financial state of what truly is the worlds largest Ponzi Scheme.
@ C. Wesley, I hope you're old enough to use what you need before then, cause I'm not betting my retirement on it and my retirement isn't all that far away. For the younger folks, I hope they chose not to bet that it'll be solvent when they retire.
Because the fallacy is even removing the ceiling won't affect SS solvency very much, remember only about 10% of the work force make over $100,000 per year, so you only get about $80 billion more a year. The only way is to continue to raise the retirement age till you get back to around 5 work for every one on retirement.

The aviation industry is responsible for most the pollution - emissions that have been and continued to be responsible for this nation's grid - space.
Yet-today-they are protected via the ATA and other organizations up on the Hill with their lobbyists to boot!
When the families here on the ground are considered 2nd class citizens when compared to the airlines and their rights - then there is something wrong here in America. When five states and their Atty Generals go to bat against the most recent D.C. Court of appeals involving the ASR in that region - then we fully understand that the airlines count - where people don't.
If flyer's have rights - then what about the families that are captured within the glide paths and take off plates?
If the Feds want your tail number - give it to them.

Don't forget, the ACA specifies that in 2013 the ceiling on SS payments is raised and that by 2017, it will be $200,000 for individuals and $250,000 for couples. There are a significant number of people who make more than $106,000, the current ceiling. By including all the income, the SS trust fund will remain solvent well beyond 2036.
