For about fifteen minutes, the heavy clouds that were dumping rain on the Sierra Nevada created a great dark backdrop while, at my position on the airport grounds, the sun was out. Just as the rain in the mountains was ending and the clouds were moving away, California One came in. The lighting at that moment was perfect to illuminate the special livery paint on N943WN.
