Another great reason to give seats to deadheading cargo pilots and from competing airlines....in addition to having your own people ride on other airlines to get home.

That's alright. It was cheering to see good news among the general tone of current events.
This article is over 5 years old.
I think the statute of limitations on heroism is 7 years.

This happened in 2012 Reported in breakingnews.ie on the 20/11/2012 - 10:08:16. Is FlightAware stuck for up to date news?
The Capt of the United flight she was on apparently had a heart attack and was laid out on the cockpit floor. My wife heard the flight attendants making a fuss so my wife simply inquired if she could help, while identifying herself to them.
They went and asked the Co-pilot if he could use her help which he said "yes" to! The wife went into the cockpit and took the Captains seat and suggested the co-pilot continue to fly the airplane and my wife would take the radio's and do all the checklists.
The flight diverted into Chicago O'hare. The flight was met by medical personal at the gate where they took the heart attack Capt off the airplane on a stretcher.
The wife still trying get home hustled to the next flight heading towards where we lived at the time which was Honolulu.
United later contacted UPS asking them to thank my wife for what she had done.
