Qatar Airways "not interested" in Boeing 777X
Akbar Al Baker said "we are not interested in buying". (www.reuters.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Could be a negotiating stance. Might as well play hard to get.
Already has orders for 80 A350s, 10 A380s, 30 787s (8 already delivered) plus options for another 30 787s, not too mention over 30 777s in service with orders and options to bring the 777s up to almost 50.
Qatar already had a steady stream of deliveries scheduled.
When there is a 777X, in a few years, we'll see if Qatar really wants some. I'd bet they'll need them, or some future model from either Boeing or Airbus in that category that are nothing but conjecture at this time, and wouldn't be delivered until at least a decade, or closer to two, from now.

Where have we heard this type of pronouncement before? Al Baker is the Takkiyah CEO.

"that airline sucks anyway"
based on what experience Phil?

Just lucky I guess. :-)
The last time I flew Qatar (New York to Nairobi, security was every bit as comprehensive as any other airline, more than most and yet I never felt as though I was being imposed upon.
Qatar was voted as being #4 on the World's 20 Best Airlines by Business Traveler. Not one US carrier made the list!
