TSA sends Brit home for tweet
Two British tourists were barred from entering America after joking on Twitter that they were going to 'destroy America' and 'dig up Marilyn Monroe'. Leigh Van Bryan, 26, was handcuffed and kept under armed guard in a cell with Mexican drug dealers for 12 hours after landing in Los Angeles with pal Emily Bunting. It's a good thing he didn't tweet that he was going to smoke a fag, they'd have gotten him on conspiracy to murder a homosexual.
Excellent analogy.
I agree. Very well done Brian.

True, but Customs and Boarder Protection reports to DHS. Big Sis strikes again.
I am definitly not a TSA defender. Huge waste of money. That said, the oneous is on the person entering our country to understand our meaning of words here. If these people want to talk trash all over the world they just might find theirselves being misunderstood. In this case stupidity prevailed on both sides.
Very true, but I saw a tombstone on COMMON SENSE the other day, showing it had passed on sometime back.
lol! I'm sure it's buried at the same location where the 727 is getting buried: and by the same people.
At least it will have a working lav!
The fact is that if anybody makes a comment like that it has to be taken seriously. Anything at all that endangers any aircraft anywhere at anytime and is recorded or over heard HAS to be acted upon. Just NOT a matter to jest with. The US Stare Dept. does not make any exceptions and will often act without local agreement from authortities overseas to arrest those involved. If the threat was made about a US carrier they are rendered back to the USA. At this point the TSA hands over the ofendant to the CIA and that is that. Same happens all over Europe by the way.
