Beyond an unstable approach. Go around would have been my option here.
The nose-down attitude on touchdown wasn't caused by "gusts" but by the PF adding too much to the approach V Ref. You should only add half the factor, not the whole thing. This flying transgression was committed out of an abundance of caution, but this "abundance" backfired on the crew. The nose gear is not stressed for this kind of impact, and relevant protocols will call for a thorough inspection and possible replacement of the whole assembly, if not major parts of it.

The system decided they were so good that they should be duplicated!
How does a pilot make that mistake though? I wonder if they were borderline on the stall speed given they were repositioning an empty plane...
Pilots landing in Madeira, are by Law Captains, with special training and expertise. Don't you think they'd know? They landed there 100's of times, in all weathers...
Guess this is the 101th time they got it wrong.
